Methodology
How FieldOwner evaluates software
FieldOwner is run by Shanin Drucquer, owner of Iconic Landscaping. Recommendations come from real operator experience and structured research — and the site labels which is which, everywhere.
Used vs. researched — always labeled
Some tools are used directly to run a real landscaping business. Others are evaluated through public pricing, documentation, feature research, and feedback from other operators. Every listing on this site says which basis applies — a "Used by FieldOwner" badge means Shanin has genuinely run the tool in his own operations; "Researched by FieldOwner" means we have not.
Pricing is checked, dated, and sourced
Every pricing fact carries the date it was last checked and links to the vendor's own pricing page. Pricing is re-verified on a monthly schedule. When a fact gets old, the site flags it automatically rather than presenting stale numbers as current. Quote-based pricing is labeled as quote-based — we don't guess.
Conservative language when we're not sure
You'll see phrases like "published pricing", "quote-based", "offer may vary", and "check current terms". If we can't verify something, we say so and point you to the source instead of inventing a number.
Referrals never decide recommendations
FieldOwner may earn a referral fee when you sign up for some tools through our links, at no extra cost to you. Deal buttons only appear for tools where a real referral relationship exists — we don't list offers we can't deliver. Tools without referral programs appear in the same directory, with the same research labels, and can win the same recommendations.
No fake signals
No invented review counts, no fake urgency, no countdown timers, no "best" claims without stated reasoning. Comparison verdicts explain who each tool actually fits, including who should avoid it.
